CONNECT to COLLECT: Everything You Need to Know about the new MLC
SONGWRITERS: YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT THIS!
If you are a songwriter or composer, there are important steps you need to take NOW to receive your well-earned digital audio mechanical royalties. The historic Music Modernization Act of 2018 resulted in the birth of The MLC… The Mechanical Licensing Collective. Starting in January 2021, The MLC will issue and administer mechanical licenses to streaming and download services in the US. They will then collect royalties due under those licenses from Digital Service Providers (DLC’s) and PAY SONGWRITERS. Anyone who wishes to receive digital audio mechanical royalties from their work will need to become a “Member” of The MLC.
CMN knows how important this topic is to many of its members, and has invited the CEO of The MLC, Kris Ahrend and Serona Elton, The MLC Head of Educational Partnerships to present a very special workshop that will teach us how to “Connect to Collect.” This is a MUST ATTEND event for every songwriter and composer. Time is of the essence, as songwriters should become members and register their works with The MLC by January so as not to miss out on any earnings.
Workshops will be recorded and available for 90 days after the session.
