What Can One Little Person Do?
Search the web for “What Can One Little Person Do?” and you will find versions by professionals, elementary schools, and even educational companies. It can be performed sweetly or with sass, but in any form it tells an important story. Sally says, “I wrote this for the principal of a school in Kentucky, who, in answer to my query of what they were studying for Black History Month, replied, ‘Well, nothing! We don’t need to. We ain’t got no blacks here.’ Actually, the song is for the students in that school, who have been deprived of a huge portion of their nation’s history.” The final verse, added more recently, affirms how brave people continue to help this world.
