The CMN regional was AWESOME!! My friend and I were so happy to learn so much from Eve Kodiak and Ellen Allard. What new ideas and skills to explore!!! The preschool setting in Canton was great and the company even better. I connected with LOTS of old music friends!

CMN Jersey Jam: Song Swap & Community Concert

On August 5, 2017, members from the Mid-Atlantic and New York Metro regions of The Children's Music Network gathered for an afternoon of music making at the Old Franklin Schoolhouse in Metuchen, New Jersey. We socialized and swapped songs in an informal Song Circle from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and then opened the doors to the public at 4:00 pm for a Community Concert. It was a great chance to play and sing with each other, while giving the locals a taste of CMN's musical magic.

Our point person for this wonderful event was CMNer Danny Adlerman, who hosts a monthly Open Mic at this cozy historic venue. Attendees included Yosi Levin  David & Jenny Heitler-Klevans with their sons Ari and JasonRichard McLaughlinBarbara Christensen GirtLisa NovemskyIrene Dunsavage and yours truly, David C. Perry, CMN Mid-Atlantic Region Co-Cordinator.

Pool Party, Song Swap & Potluck

On Saturday, July 30th, 2016 CMN Mid-Atlantic members and their families gathered at the lovely home Janet Sclaroff in Cherry Hill, NJ, for a Pool Party / Song Swap / Potluck Dinner. The weather gods smiled upon us and provided plenty of time for swimming, splashing, diving and water frisbee before rain clouds moved in late afternoon.

Then it was time to eat, drink and and be merry, chowing down on scrumptious burgers and chicken plus an array of salads and other miscellaneous munchies. The day was rounded out with a song circle featuring a wide variety of wonderful songs, original and old favorites, from silly to sublime, that had everyone singing and playing along.

Special thanks to Janet for being the perennial hostess-with-the mostest – and a big wet hug to Marsha Goodman-Wood for journeying all the way from Washington, DC, with her hubby and three kids to be part of the fun.

Looking forward to seeing you at the 2016 International Conference in Los Gatos, CA  Oct 14-16

For more information, feel free to e-mail Janet at You can also contact Mid-Atlantic Co-ordinator David C. Perry at 610-457-1239 or, if you have any questions about this event or suggestions for additional regional activities.

We hope to see you there!

CMN "Here Comes Summer!" Kids Art & Music Festival (+ Pool Party)

On Saturday, June 20, 2015, a dozen or so members of The Children's Music Network Mid-Atlantic Region provided more than four hours of music for the “Here Comes Summer!” Kids Art & Music Festival at The Garden State Discovery Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ. In celebration of the first weekend of summer – and the museum’s 21st birthday – we performed two sets on an outdoor stage and then moved into their indoor theater for the final set of the day. The museum was thrilled to have us as part of the festivities and expressed their gratitude with a nice financial contribution to CMN.

Afterwards, joined by other CMNers who weren’t at the Festival, we gathered at the nearby home of Janet Sclaroff for a Pool Party / Potluck / Sing-Along. As you can imagine, a warm and wonderful time was had by all. What a glorious way to kick off the summer!

It was a day full of songs and smiles and dances too, a space to laugh with old  friends and welcome the new.  A lovely keynote, engaging workshops, a lively lunch hour jam and an excellent round robin were capped off by a beautiful closing.
Thank you to members old and new and to all our guests for bringing such great energy. We hope to see you all at the CMN National in Zion this fall.  :-)

New York Metro
Our next gathering will be in Montclair, NJ on November 18 for the third annual Pass it on for Pete at Montclair Cooperative School.
On Saturday, September 23, a small but mighty group of preschool teachers, music specialists and seasoned CMN members gathered at Collin Allen Day Care Center in Mount Vernon NY for our fall regional conference. David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans started us off with "We're All in This Together: Building Community through Music". They shared many songs written by fellow CMN'ers as well as their own material, providing handouts so that teachers could find and use the songs presented in their own teaching.
Dan "Danna Banana" was next, showing us how a sea shanty "I've Been to Haarlem" could be adapted for use with various ages in performance. After a lunch/networking break, we reconvened for "A Window into Orff Schulwerk" with Mount Vernon elementary music teacher Charlotte Moore. Charlotte is new to CMN, and brings a wealth of experience and passion for teaching. Her energetic and participatory workshop left us wanting to learn more. Although she cannot make it to Hyannis, we hope to get her to a National soon.
Our last workshop took us to the Adirondacks with Jean Young for a wilderness adventure, where we encountered loons, otter, great blue herons and beaver, learning about their habitats through puppets, movement and instruments.
Yours in song, Nancy Hershatter

April 23, 2017  SONG SWAP In Los Gatos

Carol Passovoy and Kathleen Rushing are your No. Cal Coordinators for CMN!  They would like to organize some gatherings this next year in at least 3 different locations, making it convenient for our members to attend.  If you would like to suggest an idea for a gathering, or volunteer your home or appropriate venue, we would love to hear from you.  In the past we have had song swaps, workshops, concerts, and always a potluck including lots of Kale dishes from Nancy Schneidinger.

You can email or call either one of us with any ideas or suggestions.  It was so great meeting a few new members and lots of "old" members at the October Conference in Los Gatos where We Could Not Keep From Singing, what a great weekend that was!

Hope to hear from you soon, and go put that date on the calendar, right now!
Kathleen and Carol.
