Bio
Heather Feather is a children's performer and educator who was born in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, and is now based in Montreal, Quebec. Her sunny, energetic personality and toe-tapping shows will have the whole family singing and dancing along to songs that are not only ridiculously joyful, but also encourage physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development in children of all ages. She promises families unforgettable, engaging quality time and lots of fun and laughter. Her debut album "Songs for Growing" (2022) was awarded two FACTOR Artist Development Grants, and nominated for the 2023 East Coast Music Awards Children's Entertainer of the Year, as well as Music Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2023 Jazz Artist of the Year.
Heather is the Chief Silly-Song-Singer of WeeJam Music, offering Parent & Child Group Music and pre-k music curriculum development and delivery for daycares, preschools, and schools. She is an active composer and arranger, As a performer, she has held positions as a professional chorister and orchestral musician. She is also a published author, and her research has additionally been presented at national and international conferences of the Society of Music Theory, the International Association for the Study of Popular Music, and the European Music Analysis Conference/Jarheskongress der Gesellschaft für Musiktheorie. A Music Theorist by training, she studied at Memorial University of Newfoundland (BMus in Music Theory and Composition), Bowling Green State University (MM studies in Music Theory) and McGill University (PhD in Music Theory), and taught at McGill before making the switch to becoming a full-time children’s musician…and has never been happier!
