Eileen Bluestone Sherman
Whether working as a Theater Arts Montessori Teacher, University Professor, television writer, young adult novelist, recording producer, dramatist, or musical theater lyricist, Eileen loves sharing her passion for storytelling with the young and young at heart. Through the years, her written works were twice honored for (Chicago television) with the Emmy® Award (The Odd Potato; Nothing is Simple), a National Jewish Book Award (Monday in Odessa), the International Reading Association’s “Teacher’s Choice Award” (Independence Avenue), and a Kansas City Star Thorpe Menn Honorable Mention Literary Award (The Violin Players). She also is the proud recipient of faculty awards from both the Academy Montessori International of Kansas City (where she served as the theater arts director for 15 years) and from Baker University’s SPGS program in Overland Park, Kansas, where she taught dramatic literature.
Eileen is the Co-Founder (with award-winning singer/songwriter Grant Maloy Smith) of The Indie Collaborative, a professional music organization of more than two thousand artists, fostering unique, musical collaborations with outstanding artists from around the globe. Its multicultural “award-winning” membership includes extraordinary talents from six continents.
When writing musical theater, Eileen Collaborates with her sister, Gail C. Bluestone. Dozens of Broadway’s Tony Award-winning stars have recorded their music and performed their songs live on such renowned stages as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Their melodies that celebrate Hanukkah (“My Mother’s Menorah”) Christmas (“I Keep Christmas in My Pocket”) and Kwanzaa (Kwanzaa’s Pure Light”) are streamed around the world every holiday season.
Eileen’s newest project in development is Leenie’s Library, a set of digital picture book musicals whose mission is to inspire a love for reading through a union of lively musical theater and comedic animation encouraging youngsters to read “just for fun.”
